ABOUT MELLILAH
A top performer and instructor, Mellilah is an
intuitive and generous instructor with a strong
background in performing arts, dance,
movement, and fitness.  Mellilah's classes are
undeniably designed for mastery of the dance,
thorough and systematic, and at the same time,
fun and rewarding!  Please see below, left side,
for Mellilah's credentials.  

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Level 1: (Very beginning through some
experience) Whether you're wishing to be that
next belly dance superstar, looking for a hobby, or
looking for a creative way to stay in shape, belly
dance is for you!  This course will allow you to
express yourself creatively, while increasing
flexibility, core strength, coordination and
confidence and poise.  Learn proper alignment,
technique, combinations, footwork and
movements, isolations, and more. No previous
experience necessary.  Bring a yoga/floor mat.

Level 2: (Prerequisite: Mastery of technique
learned in Level 1 or equivalent dance
experience, about one year of belly dance.) This
class will build upon the fundamentals covered in
Level 1, introduce Level 2 movement and
technique and use of finger cymbals. The
emphasis will be on strengthening technique and
adding variations of movement, combinations
and choreography, as well as developing a rich
knowledge of all aspects of the art form.  Students
need to bring a yoga/floor mat and set of finger
cymbals to class. Teacher approval needed
before signing up for Level 2. Contact Mellilah, for

FAQ'S   (Frequently Asked Questions)
What do I wear to class/lesssons? Wear
comfortable exercise clothes. Dance, yoga or
exercise pants, t-shirt, crop top or choli, and/or
exercise tops are all fine. A hip scarf or coinless
belt is optional. Most belly dancers dance
barefoot but some choose to wear shoes. Any
comfortable shoe that you can move in will work..
 Jazz dance shoes and ballroom shoes are
excellent options, too.

What do I bring? Bring water and yoga mat or
towel for stretching. A notepad and pencil are
recommended. If you have special dietary needs,
like hypoglycemia, please bring a healthy snack.
Bring finger cymbals to Level 2 classes.

Which level is best for me? Level 1 was created
for the very beginner and those with some
experience, as well as for those unfamiliar with
Mellilah's approach to belly dance.  
Level 2 is for
students with prior belly dance experience and
those wanting to belly dance as a career or
serious hobby.  Mellilah recommends that you
repeat Level 1 until you have mastered all the
concepts on the Level 1 syllabus. You may decide
to stay permanently in Level 1 or revisit Level 1
from time to time to hone in on the basics.

POLICIES
Arrival: Please arrive to your scheduled
class/lesson on time.  If you have not registered,
please arrive ten minutes early.  If you do arrive
late, Mellilah will continue the class/lesson for the
remainder of the scheduled time. No refund will
be given for time lost due to tardiness.

Payment: When you pay for an entire session in
advance, you receive a discounted rate, but you
must register for each 6-week session separately.  
Alternatively, you may drop in to any class without
an appointment for a one-time drop-in fee per
class.
 Payment may be in the form of cash or a
check, payable to the City of Bothell for group
classes at the Lytle House.  Private instruction may
be paid via cash, check or PayPal, payable to
mail@mellilah.com.

Pro-rated Fees: If you wish to join a session that has
already begun, the fees are pro-rated as long as
it's not the last day of the session.  (If you join on
the last day of a session, you must pay the $15
drop-in fee.)

Cancellation: Any cancellations must be received
before the first day of the scheduled session in
order to receive a refund. For private lessons,
please notify Mellilah no later than 72 hours before
your scheduled time in order to cancel.  Lessons
may be rescheduled, if sufficient notification is
given.  In the unlikely event that Mellilah must
cancel a lesson, the lesson may be rescheduled or
refunded. Fees paid for private and/or group
sessions are non-transferable; fees may not be
transferred from one scheduled session/class to
another. In the event of inclement weather call
Mellilah or the City of Bothell Parks & Rec for
classes held there.

Body Dynamics - 2 hrs
"Dancers are the athletes of God" -
Albert Einstein.
Every dancer from
beginner to professional needs the tools
to help their bodies stay strong, flexible
and safe in order to keep up with their
love of dance. Knowledge of technique,
rhythms and moves is where your love of
dance wants to take you; learning about
your body is what will get you there.  
Learn about proper alignment, muscle
anatomy as related to dance, and more.  
 Additionally, let Mellilah guide you
through strength training exercises
designed specifically to target our needs
as belly dancers and learn healthy
warm-ups and stretches to enhance your
body's overall performance.  All levels.
(Continue with Body Dynamics II, III, and
IV, with more emphasis on technique)

The Mind-Belly-Body Connection -  2 hrs
In this innovative workshop, Mellilah
teaches you new ways to approach
basic body movement and awareness.   
Learn techniques for relieving tension,
preventing injury and pain, and
facilitating effortlessness in your dance.   
Finally, engage your voice and settle
your mind, helping you to become your
best.  Mellilah guarantees you will float
out the door in a new body!  All levels.

Belly Blast - 1- 1.5 hrs
Wiggle your way into shape, while
calming the nerves and connecting with
your inner spirit!  Mellilah incorporates
belly dance movements and steps into a
low-impact, aerobic workout, which
helps burn calories and increases
cardiovascular fitness.  A creative
alternative to the traditional aerobic
workout!  All levels.

Belly Practice Drills - 1.5 hrs
Mellilah will teach her series of practice
drills to help you organize your practice
time, practicing effectively and properly,
while getting a low-impact workout!
Mellilah covers a full scope of the most
common belly dance movements with
an emphasis on technique and attention
to muscle anatomy as related to dance.
Additionally, learn Mellilah's practice tips
and be on your way to success!
