Mellilah's Belly Dance Bio
Mellilah, award winning Egyptian style belly
dancer, is a passionate performer, instructor, and
life-long learner of this amazing Middle Eastern art
form. Through her love of the dance, the music,
and the culture, she is committed to keeping the
art form alive and authentic throughout Seattle
and beyond, respecting and learning from its
history.
Mellilah performs professionally as a soloist for
restaurants, corporate events and private parties
throughout the Puget Sound area, specializing in
Egyptian style, cane, sword, veil, zills, fans and
singing belly grams, a classic singing telegram with
a twist! Additionally, she is the owner of New
Moon Dance Productions. Mellilah often dances
with a live Middle Eastern band and musicians
and has been featured in many of Seattle's
restaurants and large-scale stage productions.
Mellilah won 1st Runner Up in the Emerald Rain
Professional Belly Dancer Competition.
As an intuitive and generous instructor with a
strong background in movement and fitness,
Mellilah is committed to providing excellence in
education. She teaches weekly group belly
dance classes in Bothell, Mill Creek, and Mukilteo
as well as privately.
Mellilah is currently the vice president, a board
member, and a company dancer of Middle East
Arts International (MEAI), a non profit organization
seeking to expand and build cross-cultural ties and
the personal growth of all individuals via the
support and promotion of excellence in Middle
East inspired music and dance.
Mellilah's education comes primarily from select
workshops and private lessons from numerous
renowned national and international instructors, as
well as from countless hours of research and study
of dance history, music, culture, and style. She has
completed Sahra Saeeda's Cairo Style 1, 2, and 3,
taught by internationally renowned instructor and
Cairo star, Sahra Saeeda; and Hadia's Middle
Eastern Teacher Training certification program
taught by Hadia, famous Canadian belly dance
teacher and performer. Additionally, Mellilah is a
certified fitness instructor, and she has a B.S. in
Education and Minor in Music.
